What Does a Teaching Artist Do?
Teaching Artists work directly with students and educators in residency-based programs, typically over the course of a semester.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing and delivering hands-on, project-based learning experiences
- Collaborating with teachers to align projects with classroom goals
- Encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and student engagement
- Creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Showcasing student work through presentations or final projects

Requirements
To ensure a safe and successful experience for students and schools, Teaching Artists must:
- Be a professional or emerging artist with demonstrated experience in their field
- Complete required background clearances for working in schools
- Participate in orientation or training provided by RAC
- Be willing to collaborate with educators and adapt to classroom settings
- Commit to the schedule and goals of the residency
